Have you heard the recent plans to send National Reserve troops to the border to sit and watch for smugglers (and/or illegal aliens) without taking any acton as a sign the Bush gang is doing something about the problem? Meanwhile they are calling the people who have been volunteering their time to watch the border so they can notify the border patrol about these intruders for free, Vigilantes.
So the Bush gang are planning to do this with Reserve people that are currently Employed at home and supporting the economy, or with people who have been away from their homes fighting Bush gangs vendetta in Iraq rather than doing their normal jobs at home.
The question is, Why don't they train and hire the volunteers interested in doing this job already with the funds congress approved two years ago rather than put the burden on Temporary military personnel who have other duties as well as Constitutional questions of using military for domestic policing?
Could it be that Bush and his gang only plan on keeping the military there until being re elected? Well we don't actually know who the current administration is planning as their next front man, but it will be the same gang at heart I am sure.
Do you find it interesting as I do that this has been a problem for years but until being blasted by the media the only plan was to force illegal aliens to get a drivers license so they would drive better?
The point being is that this is just another disingenuous show to appease the populous until the next front man can be forced apon them.
As I sit here watching our Senators debate the Border it becomes very clear that there are some that do not want their cheap workforce disturbed. They want the illegal aliens for their business friends who would rather pay them little and burden the rest of us with the hidden cost of emergency care, child welfare, schooling the children and loss of good paying jobs .
Most illegal aliens don't have health care and emergency rooms are required to give them aid when they show up at their door and are prohibited from reporting them for deportation. the rest of us pay for this in higher health bills.
The children of aliens are fed by school programs and taught in the schools paid for by property and income taxes of their classmates parents who make more income and own more expensive property than most Illegal aliens. When the local boycott happened here half the students were missing from the local schools, if this were a daily occurrence the remaining students would have twice the resources for learning.
If an employer has the opportunity to hire someone at a sub living wage with no consequences they would be stupid not to do so. But in doing so they also deny others a living wage. When you hear them complain about not being able to find someone for the job it is simply that they are paying less than most people need to support their family and pay for the health insurance and other costs a family in the U.S. requires in order to not be a burden on society.
It is simply unfair to the other employers that are trying to run a business that is not a drain on their neighbors when a company hires an employee that will need to be supported with other peoples tax money, whether that employee is and illegal alien or a legal citizen, and the opportunity for wage abuse increases with people who will take any pay and fear reprisal for complaining about their sub standard living arrangements due to low pay.
Now I must say there are legal aliens also and I mean them no disrespect or harm. They have jumped the hoops to make it here and are working hard to improve themselfs and their new country. But they also have a stake in this country no and for others to jump in line before them or cost them hardship by breaking the laws is unjust and an insult to the hard work they have made to get where they are now.
It seems to me that four things need to happen.
First we need to make an honest effort to help the Border Patrol do their job as well as the INS, rather than cutting their budget as Bush has done for the past three years.
Next we need to Honestly penalize employers who hire illegal alien workers in a manor severe enough to make it an economic loss to hire them.
And third we need a U.S. run system of guest worker offices in Mexico and South America where Employers can get the needed workers with a streamlined and timely system without the possible corruption some people have suggested is in the current system. and this system should also provide for the true cost of the worker to the U.S. society through employee paid fees .
And fourth we need to work for better work and living conditions in Mexico and Central and South America so the desire to come to the U.S. is lessened and those people feel they can improve them self and have a better life in the town they grew up in.
