-: Democracy Now :-: Frontpage :-: More Bad Thoughts :-

I'm Listening to Bush on his weekly radio address talking about a line Item Veto bill and wondering what's the catch.

It seems to me that all he has to do is send it back , which he can do and tell them what needs to be changed before he'll sign it. Possibly he needs to veto it and then say what's wrong , like Clinton did when he was trying to end the deficit and actually closed down the government when the congress refuse to end the waste. But either way it seems if he was sincere about the problem he would have been doing something about it already rather than using it as a disraction during an election year.

The problem it seems is that we allow earmaked legislation that adds items to a bill that has no connection to it.
It is sort of like blackmail.
If you want your project then you have to give me mine. It desn't matter if you are feeding the poor and I am feeding the rich.
We are both trying to get our bills passed and possibly neither of us are working for the benifit of thee whole country as the founders intended, though some might say that the founders intended congress to restict the governments power over the individual, whether it was the individual person or state.
Regardless, at this point it seems the intent is to gain fame and fortune using other peoples money for your local monument, whether road building or service.
This is not a recent problem though.
The question is when will those seeking the power end their greed at the expense of those they profess to serve.
I am sure one of those people reading that line would say that getting the funds into their area is serving those they serve, but they have actually been elected to serve the nation as a whole, and anyone who thinks differently has missed the point of a common congress.

This of course is only my humbe opinion and you are welcome to dissagree and write your own page I will post as your page here.
simply write to me, bad at this web site and put Website page postng or similar note in the subject so I don't filter it as Spam.
I recieve excessive spam and they have found thhis address to, so please be clear about your subject line, and if I missed your letter I did not mean too, please resend it.

If Congress really wanted to help they would ban spam and press for the DEA to go after the internet drug pushers who send a third of the spam I recieve, and the securities and exchange comission after the senders of another quarter of the spam senders, the rest are fraud or porn and have their own departments, but those problems do not bring cash to the local economies of the polititions and are actually difficult to dealwith, so they are not going away soon it seems.
